Miracles still happen

By Stan Rutkowski/ The Mountain Mail

I still believe in supernatural miracles happening in 2016. “What makes you think so, Pastor Stan?” The Bible says so: “For with God all things are possible.”

I personally have witnessed many answers to prayers. The Bible also makes another claim: “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today and forever.”

I’d like to tell you of the true story of Leon Freitag.

On April 5, 2014, Leon Freitag (pronounced Free´ tag) received a death sentence. He was diagnosed with pleural mesothelioma, an incurable cancer caused by exposure to asbestos.

“The doctor told me to gather my family, because I had 12 to 18 months to live,” Freitag recounted. “According to the doctor, I had no hope of survival.”

Freitag, who has served as superintendent of the North Dakota District Council of the Assemblies of God since 1999, had little time to absorb this life-changing news.

As Freitag stood before his pastors in North Dakota, he said, “I intend to continue to faithfully fulfil my duties as a supervisor of pastors and churches. My heart aches because we don’t see many miracles in our churches anymore.”

The leading mesothelioma specialist, agreed: “There is no hope for a recovery. Your time to live is very short.” The specialist recommended radical chemotherapy. The pre-op examination revealed large and dangerous tumours.

Freitag’s wife, Dianne, had been witnessing to the doctors and nurses. “We’re praying people,” she said, “and we believe that when the surgeon opens my husband up, you’ll find that God was already there.”

A miracle did happen between the pre-op exam and the operation. On the operating table, the doctors discovered that the tumours had shriveled up and died. In one day, the tumours had shrunk by 80 percent and the remaining cancerous tissue was dead.

The doctor was dumbfounded. In all of his years of treating mesothelioma, he had never seen something like this happen. He cleaned out the tumours and sewed Freitag back up. Seven months later Freitag resumed his full ministry schedule. One year later he has been declared cancer free.

I have personally witnessed many miracles of different kinds. All the credit belongs to Jesus and not to a man or woman. There are many churches and pastors who believe in the truth of God’s Word. We are happy to pray for you, whatever your need.

Why not ask God for a miracle today? There are many promises to encourage you. They will give you faith to believe what Jesus said and the works he did. We will pray with you and teach you how to believe in God’s Word.
