The Punjab government has launched an initiative titled ‘Connect with Your Roots’ (CYR) to connect the youth of Punjab-origin with their roots in Punjab. The programme would provide them an opportunity to visit their native place or the town where their parents or grandparents were born or the place where they spent their early years.
This two-week programme is open to young boys and girls of Punjabi origin between 16-22 years of age, especially to those who have never visited India. Besides a home-stay in a village, the itinerary would include visits to various historical monuments and cultural places, and also a chance to savour traditional delicacies of Punjab.
The dates of the visit will be from 30th March to 10th April 2018. Expenditure in India, including local transportation, boarding, and lodging during the stay in Punjab, would be borne by the Punjab government. The applicant would be expected to bear the cost of his/her travel to India (New Delhi /Amritsar) and back.
Those interested to avail of this initiative are urged to submit their applications online at http://cyrnri.punjab.gov.in by 24th February 2018. More details of the CYR initiative are available on Punjab Government website www.nripunjab.gov.in.
